The Band
Kutumba is basically a band of six professionals who specialize in folk instruments. They are based inKathmandu. Their sole aim is to preserveNepal’s culture and its art, spread joy and love worldwide. The members have different origins and their musical background is also different.
Individual Members
Arun a key member of the team plays the Tungna, which originated in the 19th century around the Himalayan region. It is a string instrument made of wood. Kiran Nepali is a sarangi player coming from a family of musicians. He also plays the guitar well. Rubin Kumar Shrestha plays the flute and knows to play 15 other instruments besides flute. Siddartha Maharjan specializes in effects, which include instruments like bhushya, muchunga, ghunguru, sishya, and many others.
Pavit’s Pivotal Role
Pavit Maharjan and Raju Maharjan are wonderful with percussion. Pavit is a key player in the band and it is in his shop that the band was formed. He has played the Madal from his childhood days, but took to professional music after his grade 12. The main objective of the band was to show people that folk music is fun and can be enjoyed fully just like any other form of music. Raju Maharjan is one of the most famous percussionists inNepalat present.
Kutumba was formed with the sole objective of giving music lovers unique sound that is both enjoyable and far-sighted. They are a self -driven and self -motivated team of musicians who bring a beautiful synchronization of Nepali culture, the traditional roots, and innovative music.
