Popular Playback Singer Udit Narayan Jha
Popularly called Udit Narayan, Udit Narayan Jha is a playback singer fromNepal. He has sung in nearly 32 languages. His works have been well recognized both inNepalandIndia. He has received many awards from both the Indian Government and the King of Nepal.
Early Childhood
He was born in the year 1955, in BhardahavillageofSaptaridistrict inNepal. Hare Krishna Jha was his father and his mother’s name is Bhuwaneshwari Devi. He passed his S.L.C in Rajbiraj and intermediate from the RR campus inKathmandu.
Music Career
His music career started with his joining the Radio Nepal as staff artist. He specialized in Nepali and Maithili folk songs. He has sung many highly famous folk songs for RadioNepal. He started singing in films with his debut in the Nepali film Sindur. He did an eight year stint with Nepali films and later moved on toIndiain 1978.
Foray into Indian Film Music
He came toIndia, when he received a scholarship from Bhartiya Vidhya Bhavan, a famous music school in Mumbai. His first break in Hindi film music came in 1980 with the film Unees Bees. He has so far sung over 25,000 songs in different languages. After singing all the songs in the film Qayamat se Qayamat tak, his popularity sky rocketed and since then he has been one of the leading singers in Indian film industry.

He has taken part in several cultural and social functions that were organized to enhance the Nepali culture and spread it worldwide. He has been greatly responsible for creatingNepal’s unique identity in other foreign nations. He has participated in funding programs for victims of natural calamities.
