Rajesh Payal Rai is a famous Nepali singer. He belonged to a British soldier family. He has many famous albums to his credit and has also won many awards.
Early Life
He was born in Buipa in Khotang district. He spent his early life mostly in Buipa. Born in a soldier family, he was expected to enlist in the army, but he was mainly devoted to singing and wanted to take up singing as a career.
Musical Career
With his unrelenting interest in singing, he was selected as singer for radioNepalafter a voice test. His first song to be recorded was Falliyo Maya Dubo Sari. It became a hit and soon he was shot to fame in a very short span of time.

His singing stint in films brought him the best playback singer award for the film Chunauti. He has also won Album of the year award for his album Kamana. He has won may other prestigious awards including the Kalika FM Music Award, Annapurna FM music award and Hits FM Music Award and the Best singer of the year award for the year 2007, 2008, and 2009.
