Kunti Moktan
DJ<p align="center"><strong>Popular Classical and Folk Singer Kunti Moktan</strong></p><p>Kunti Moktan is a Nepali classical singer. She excels in both classical as well as modern music. She also plays the Harmonium wonderfully. Kunti Moktan has many popular songs to her credit and is one of the few Nepali singers who can sing both forms of Nepali music namely classical and folk exceptionally.</p><p><strong>Personal Life</strong></p><p>Born in the Margaret Hope Tea Estate inDarjeelingdistrict,Indiain the year 1962, she shifted toKathmandu,Nepalin the year 1983, to follow a career in music. She married Sila Bahadur Moktan who is also a musician like her. He is also a lyricist. They have two daughters who are also well known Nepali singers.</p><p><strong>Musical Journey</strong></p><p>Kunti Moktan started her singing career at an early age when she was studying in high school. During her class 8, she passed the vocal test at All India Radio in Kurseong station and did her first song recording when she was 15 years of age. She sang her second song at the age of 18 for RadioNepal. She has performed in nearly 20 countries includingEngland,USA,Japan,Hong Kong,Switzerland, andGermany.</p><p><strong>Albums</strong></p><p>Her popular hit songs include Khutta Tandal Gara, Sunkai Bhau Chha, Mathi Mathi Sailungwy Ma, and Banchan Kohi Jindagi Yo. Her albums include hit songs of Kunti Sundas, Kahile Kahl, Mayalu Lai, Kriti, and Kamero. She encourages new talents in Nepali music and her favorite upcoming musicians inNepalare Dibya Subba and Anju Panta.</p><p>Kunti Moktan has won many awards including Chinnalata Geet Puraskar, Bhupalman Singh Yuba Puraskar, Nirman Smman, and Hits FM Music Award. She is still continuing her singing career in both the classical and folk forms actively. Narayan Gopal
DJMaestro Narayan Gopal Guruacharya- The Only One of his Kind<p style="text-align: left;" align="center">Narayan Gopal Guruacharya is a prominent Nepali composer and singer. He holds a prestigious position in the musical history of Nepal. He is popularly referred to as the Tragedy King. He had a versatile voice that could emote to any genre of music excellently. All his songs were harmonized well with flute, harmonium, and sitar. He is a first generation musician in Nepal.</p><p>Personal Life</p><p>Born in the year 1939 in Kilagal Tole, Kathmandu, Narayan Gopal Guruacharya had six sisters and five brothers. He studied classical Indian music in the University of Baroda. He worked as manager in the National Dance Theater and also was editor for a brief period in Bageena, a musical journal. He married Pemala Lama in the year 1971. He was appointed managing director of Sanskritik Sangsthan and later was given the post of adviser in the Ministry of Communication.</p><p>Character</p><p>Guruacharya was well known for his avid interest in history. He loved photography and was also a sports lover. He played chess well and was a staunch football fan. When he was not concentrating on his singing, he excelled in organizing events. It was under his able editorship that Bageena magazine’s first edition was published.</p><p>Partnering with Gopal Yonzon</p><p>Narayan Gopal stepped into a new musical phase, after he met Gopal Yonzon and both started creating music together. Most of his popular and heartrending music was created in this period only. He became one of the most significant singers of his era. It was during this period that musicians started looking for originality in expression. The influence of Beatles and western music was also prominently felt during this period. In reaction to this new change in music, Narayan partnered with Gopal Yonzon and together they made some fantastic and still popular Nepali music.</p><p>He later partnered with Dibya Khaling and started giving his voice to the compositions of Khaling. He had recorded hundreds of songs and has sung in about over dozen movies during his singing career.</p>

Nabin K Bhattarai

He started his career by playing in a band and later on released his own album. He has a huge fan base inNepaland is considered to be one of the best pop singers ofNepal.</p><p><strong>Early Life</strong></p><p>Born in the year 1974, Nabin Bhattarai had varied interests ranging from painting and sports to listening to music. He did his high school studies in Budhanilkantha. After graduating from high school, he started the band ‘The Steel Wheels’ jointly with a few of his friends. He played guitar in the band. The band did a few concerts, but was not a much popular one. Soon the members of the band went abroad in search of better jobs except Nabin. His experience with the band was a big turning point in his life.</p><p><strong>Musical Career</strong></p><p>After leaving ‘The Steel Wheels’ behind, he started his solo singing career. The first song he released, Aankhama Timilai, became a rage among Nepali youngsters. The song was part of his first album Raharai Raharma. Responding to the popularity of his first album, Bhattarai made ten more albums between 1990 and 2012.</p><p><strong>Awards He was Bestowed Upon</strong></p><p>The Sahja Smriti Award for Best Male Voclaist was awarded to him twice for the songs Preetka Geet and Aankhama Timilai. He also has many FM music awards to his credit. He won the Hits FM Award in 1997 for Best Male Vocal Category. He was also bestowed the Chinnalata Award and was the youngest artist to receive the award during that period.</p><p>His best album till date is Aabash breaking many records in the history of modern music inNepal. Sanjhapakha, Timilai Herda Kasailai, Chaina Joona, and Yaad Le Timro are some of his well-known hits. He is also involved actively in many social works.</p><p> </p>

He had contributed greatly to Nepali music and is a huge inspiration for upcoming young singers in the field of Nepali music. His songs have been featured in the BBC World Top ten lists.</p><p><strong>Early Life</strong></p><p>Arun Thapa was born inCalcuttainIndiain the year 1952. His family shifted toNepal, when he was three months old. He finished his studies in KathmanduNepaland did his higher studies in Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara. Listening to his passion, he dropped college to pursue a career in music.</p><p><strong>Musical Career</strong></p><p>Arun Thapa’s entry into music was inspired by Narayan Gopal, Gopal Yonzon, and Shankar Lamichhane who were friends of his family. But his music did not have any of their influence and he believed creating his own style. Most of his songs were sung in memory of the girl he loved during his college days.</p><p><strong>Popular Songs</strong></p><p>His first song to be recorded was Jati Maya Laye Pani, which went on to become a big hit. His first song was sung in RadioNepalin the year 1971. He released two music albums Arun and The best of Arun. Both albums were very popular and sought after by Nepali music fans. His singing career spanned for over thirty years. Ritu Haruma Timi, Chot ke ho byatha ke ho, Aankhako Need khosi lane are some of his famous songs. The song Reetu haruna timi featured in the BBC World top ten songs list.</p><p>Arun Thapa is still considered as one of the stalwarts of Nepali music and he was successful in introducing a big transformation in the music history ofNepal. He was suffering from lung and liver disorder and died in the year 1999.</p><p> </p>
